For the next two week, we will be learning about tadpoles and frogs! Watch the retelling of the story 'Growing Frogs' below. There are lots of exciting challenges for you to get stuck into.
In Maths this week, Reception will complete activities based on the story 'Princess Mirror-Belle' and Year 1 are grouping and sharing numbers. Worksheets for year 1 and 2 are below. Remember to go to the white rose website for the introduction video and click on week 8.

Phonics and Reading
These books are recommended by a parent of a Reception child to support phonics and reading;
It is important to be doing lots of reading at home. Oxford Owls have set up a FREE online library.
You will need to create a log in to access the resources. The children should remember the group they were in a school but if there is any confusion please just ask!

Set 1, 2 and 3 Speed Sounds lessons will restart.
Set 2 and 3 Speed Sounds lessons will include new words for reading and spelling.
New daily films:
- Read longer words: for children who can read Set 3 sounds and words confidently.
- Read Red Words 1: for children who are reading Red, Green, Purple, Pink and Orange Read Write Inc. Storybooks. Many children are able to read these in Reception.
- Read Red Words 2: for children who are reading Yellow, Blue and Grey Read Write Inc. Storybooks. Many children are able to read these in Y1.
- Read and Hold a Sentence 1: reading and writing practice for children reading Green, Purple, Pink and Orange Read Write Inc. Storybooks. (For children reading and writing with Set 1 sounds confidently and learning Set 2 sounds.)
- Read and Hold a Sentence 2: reading and writing practice for children reading Yellow, Blue and Grey Read Write Inc. Storybooks. (For children reading and writing words with Set 2 sounds confidently and learning Set 3 sounds.)

Oh my goodness! Take a look at the mini beasts that Catherine found in her garden. Can you see the stick insect and the black dots in the web are tiny spiders!
Ruby had a summer fete in her garden. She cut the ribbon to open the fete and made a speech. Ruby had designed lots of games including throwing wet sponges at her grandad! She ran a face painting stall too. I'm still waiting for photos of her mum's painted face!
Toby and Esmee have been busy learning about minibeasts this week. They have been on a hunt looking for minibeasts and recorded their findings. Great work!

They have been playing poo sticks. Tyler drew Mrs Higgins a map from school to his nanny's house.
Catherine is using a 5 frame and a part whole model to record her maths learning. Well done Catherine!
Annelise and Kristabel have been learning about the artist Picasso. Look at their fabulous paintings.
Eadie has been practicing her letter formation and she has started writing her diary. Eadie made cement and bricks from cake and icing and built a wall. She dressed up for the occasion too!
Skyla has been enjoying playing outside in the sunshine. She has been practicing her letter formation and has built a fantastic model in lego.
Annelise has been planting potatoes.
Betsy has been planting sunflower seeds. She has been practicing her writing and letter formation. She has even had a Virtues certificate!
Betsy can ride her bike without stabilisers. Well done!
Ellie has learnt to play mahjong. Apparently she wins every time!

Sapphire has been learning her key sounds after a morning of baking buns and colouring in.
Annelise has been taking part in a science lesson and has separated coloured liquids. Magical! She has been taking part in maths lessons including number sentences, patterns and number bonds. She has recorded her work and Annelise's writing is fantastic.
Brax has made a wormery! He has been watching all the patterns that the worms make in the soil and sand. He has also been busy practicing his phonics and making paper aeroplanes.
Vanessa has been practicing the online maths games.
She has made delicious sausage rolls and is getting her daily exercise through boogie bouncing! All in a Snow White costume!
George has been taking part in silage time at his grand dads farm. He has been looking for mini beast habitats and has seen lots of bugs, shrews, field mice and one lizard! George and his bothers found another birds nest in one of the machines at the farm. Little robins hatched and then fledged. George had a massive surprise when he found a hedgehog in an outside cupboard. He gave his family a talk about what they eat and how they hunt.
He has also been doing maths, writing and reading. What a busy boy!

Esmee has been enjoying spending time with her mum and dad and Theo and Toby. They have enjoyed taking lots of long walks. Esmee has used her math skills to make and run a shop aswell as complete addition maths sheets. She has used her engineering skills to make a boat and Esmee has even made her own fire and toasted marshmallows.
Thomas and his dad are working hard to support Thomas's mum when she works from home. Thomas's mum is one of our fantastic NHS workers. Thomas has courageously come into school when mum and dad both had to work and provide a vital service to the country despite none of his friends being there. We are super proud of you all. Thank you
Ruby has been practising her maths,writing and reading. She has planted sunflowers inside and some outside to compare how they grow. Her lettuce is growing well. Look at the brilliant game Ruby has been making up in the garden. She has also been playing lots of dress ups and schools!! Ruby has made a work book which is very exciting.
Ellaria can ride her bike without stabilisers. Well done Ellaria!
Gethin has been very busy at home. He has enjoyed doing lots of arts and crafts, baking cakes and climbing trees!
